Ballantyne – New Brand and Website

Who: Ready for occupation in Winter 2022, Ballantyne is a nine-storey, 120-unit luxurious apartment rental building situated just off Main Street, within Greystone Village. Nestled in between the Rideau Canal and Rideau River, and surrounded by greenery, it’s an urban oasis for those with an active lifestyle and a sense of adventure. Head downtown for the culture, take a bike ride along the waterfronts of the canal or river, or simply grab a coffee on Main Street, and stroll down the Grande Allée – the options are limitless.

How: As mentioned in the Milieu post, Regional Group came to us needing brands and websites for two new rental apartment buildings that were being developed in Greystone Village, Ottawa. The second building we focused on was Ballantyne – named after James Ballantyne, a special person in the history of Ottawa East. The first port of call was to develop the logo – a timeless, abstract ‘B’ that mimicked the building structure, paired with the serif font Belgium. The brand vision was then compiled, including ideas for photography and how the logo might be applied on the building itself. We then developed the one-page website, using all state-of-the-art renderings and images of potential renters enjoying the area.

Milieu – New Brand and Website

Who: Ready for occupation in Fall 2021, Milieu is a six-storey, 125-unit modern apartment rental building situated just off Main Street, in Greystone Village. Bordered by the Rideau Canal and Rideau River, and surrounded by greenery, it’s an urban oasis for those with an active lifestyle and a sense of adventure. Head downtown for the nightlife, zip across the Flora Footbridge to catch a game at TD Place, walk down the Grande Allée,or simply grab a coffee on Main St., the options are limitless.

How: As a long-standing client, Regional Group came to us needing brands and websites for two new rental apartment buildings that were being developed in Greystone Village, Ottawa. The first building we decided to focus on was Milieu – the name reflecting the social environment surrounding the apartment complex. We first developed the logo mark – a modern, abstract ‘M’ that suits the potential clientele, paired with a modified version of the sans serif font Brown. The brand vision was then completed with ideas for photography and how the logo could be applied on the building itself. Then we developed the one-page website that will be used by potential renters to apply for apartments.

Coachman Apartments – Rebrand & New Website

Who: Located within the highly desirable Golden Triangle District of Ottawa, Coachman Apartments offers affordable urban rentals to those looking to experience the downtown-living lifestyle. Bordered by Elgin Street’s restaurants, bars and boutiques to the east, and the picturesque Rideau Canal to the west, the location also boasts parks, nearby transit and historic landmarks such as Parliament Hill and Confederation Park.

How: Beginning with an involved strategy session, we discovered the key audiences for Coachman and built out a brand and website that would engage with them and result in new inquiries. With a focus on elegance, we moved from the image of the coachman to the horse – the beautiful beast that is pulling the coach. Combined with the modern typography and colour palette, we have put together a brand that defines the downtown-living lifestyle.

Who: reResidences is the most exclusive condominium development in the National Capital Region. Created by Ashcroft Homes, Ottawa’s premier new home and condominium developer. Ashcroft Homes is setting the bar for exceptional quality, unique designs, stunning interiors while offering residents privileged, unobstructed views of Parliament Hill and beyond. Showcasing reResidences through its own one page website was an absolute must.

How: Ashcroft Homes, an existing client, approached Baytek to design a one page website for this one of a kind building. Showcasing specific units and enviable amenities, this website allows potential lucky buyers to receive all the necessary information at their finger tips. We are very proud to have created a truly luxury-styled website for one of the most luxurious and highly sought-after upcoming buildings in Ottawa. However, as an innovative and forward-thinking company they were also waiting for the right partnership to come into focus – this is where Baytek came in. With fresh ideas and an approach that worked with their philosophy, we started about building the foundations of an online presence that should see them well into the future.

PBC Group – New Rebrand and Website Design

Who: PBC Group started in 1956 when Peris Bouzanis began to construct housing for CMHC in Ottawa – swiftly branching out into virtually every sector of the construction industry. In 1985, Peris’s son Paul Bouzanis took over and refocused PBC Group to specialize in project development and construction management. He also developed investment and asset management divisions of the company, which are a product of PBC’s development experience over the last 30 years. PBC Group’s focus is now to service our institutional clients’ real estate investment needs.

How: Baytek rebuilt PBC’s brand from the ground up – including key messaging, logo design and website design. The colour scheme we chose is a classy, modern palette aimed at the target audiences. We used monochromatic colours for the primary scheme to help give the idea of style, subtlety and understated elegance. Using the three shades of the Cool Gray in the logo mark meant we could simulate a steely metal look, which gives the feeling of sturdy structures. The logo mark itself combines a number of ideas – the idea of structure, paths and bar charts, all combining to create a solid mark and a general feeling of what PBC Group are about. The website followed PBC’s sense of a personal touch, combining unique imagery and dynamic font styling to give the user an interesting yet informative experience.

Ashcroft Homes – New Website Design

Who: Ashcroft Homes is recognized as one of Ottawa’s most innovative and accomplished builders. Since 1992, the company has built thousands of homes in and around the city; from master planned communities including Central Park at the Experimental Farm, to infill townhome neighbourhoods like Manhattan Square at Bell’s Corners, to cosmopolitan condominiums in desirable urban settings like Byward Market, The Glebe or Westboro.

How: Now on our third project with Ashcroft Homes (having previously launched Alavida Lifestyles and Envie Student last year), we wanted to take their corporate website design to the next level. Blessed with beautiful photography of their developments, and a new stylish brand, we were able to take a full screen approach to the design – hiding away the menu, and allowing ‘call to actions’ to navigate the user through the website. In the back end, we developed a custom community plug into allow Ashcroft to easily add new community pages as they are developed.

How: Envie is designed for students – a generation that are on the cutting edge of technology. That meant with the Envie website design, we couldn’t rest on our laurels – we had to push the boundaries of design all the while keeping the brand and messaging front and centre. The homepage treats its users to a glorious cascading slideshow of all the sections of the website, enticing them to delve further into the website. Communityworks – New Brand Launch

Communityworks Logo

Our latest branding design release is for Communityworks – a non-profit housing corporation based here in Ottawa. The logo mark design is based around three major components of Communityworks – community, housing and works. The community is represented by the lower portion of the mark, with arm-like shapes folded inwards. This shows shelter, warmth and a general feeling of being looked after. The housing component appears in the top portion, with the subtle house chimney, and roof-life structure. The final component, works, is represented by the overall shape – the dynamic hexagon shape can represent a bolt or cog. This gives an overall feeling of things working, progressing and moving forward. We chose a colour scheme that showed the friendly and trustworthy nature of Community Works, and the modern, fresh palette gives an overall feeling of cleanliness and order. The green colour also represents an environmental outlook and also prosperity.
